For Numeracy we continue to set the children in KS2. This has been very successful and saw our SATs results continue to improve in 2005. The children are taught in small groups of similar ability and therefore their progress is more rapid.

In the Autumn Term we will be covering:

Place value, ordering, rounding Using a calculator

Shape and space

Reasoning about shapes

Measures, including problems

Understanding x and ÷

Mental calculation strategies

Pencil and paper procedures

The Science curriculum is based on the QCA documents which are then linked into our topic.

Children have one lesson of Science each week for approximately 1.5 hours.

We endeavour to make the lessons fun and encourage the children to learn through their own investigations.

Year 6 pupils do well in their SATS and are encouraged to further develop their knowledge at home by logging on to web sites such as the BBC Revise Wise programmes.
