| Years 5 & 6: Class In Action |
Waterpark - Coniston At Waterpark the children learn to be independent, to be organised, to listen, to take responsibility, to work as a team, to have a go, to concentrate, to build their self esteem, to respect themselves and each other - but even more than that – for staff and children it is the building of relationships the forming of a unique bond that will affect and improve their learning and the quality of their lives for ever. It is something that we refer to for the whole year – shared fears that have been conquered – shared chores – shared problems solved. Just look at the photos and you will see what we mean.
Keeping Diversity on Track We have been involved in the ‘Keeping Diversity on Track’ project for the past 2 years. It has involved the linking with Armathwaite and Appleby Schools and we have shared activities and visits to each others schools – travelling there on the Carlisle to Settle Railway – a first for many children. Underpinning the project are the Millenium goals. Initially we shared views of our own neighbourhoods and our perceptions and this culminated in a combined art activity where we all made jigsaw pieces at our own schools and then some joint ones and fitted them together.
Albie / Official Opening As usual we have had a thoroughly enjoyable visit from Albie. This year is really special as we are performing the dance at the official opening of our Community School. The energy and effort that Albie puts into the dancing is superhuman and infects the children producing fantastic results.
