LIFE EDUCATION BUS
The whole school was treated in May to a visit form the Life Education Bus. The bus is a mobile classroom that children are invited onto to cover lessons relating to themselves and growing up. The children work with Sarah Peck the Life Education tutor and her puppet, Harold the camel. This is the third year the bus has visited the school and we think the children benefit greatly from this stimulating learning environment.
CARLISLE UNITED
At the end of April the whole school was involved in a sponsored skills afternoon with Carlisle United's community coaches. The Year 3 / 4 children had received 6 weeks coaching and all the children spent a glorious sunny afternoon working on their skills. Incredibly we managed to raise over £800, which is shared between the school and Carlisle United, and will help us to pay for the coaching sessions as well as pay for some extras. Carlisle United also treated us to a hold of their newly won cup as they have been promoted back into the football league; all the children had their photos taken with James and John our community coaches and the cup.

YEAR 6 LEAVERS
Once again we say a sad goodbye to our Year 6 who have had a superb year in many ways; their excellent SATs results, their many dances, trips to Waterpark and sense of fun will always be fondly remembered. We marked the end of their year with a special leavers assembly where Ben Caits and Lauren Moynan won the achievement trophies. They were then taken to Shanghai Shanghai for a treat and received Memory Books from the Governors. We wish them all the very best next year and hope they’ll come back and see us sometime.

SINGING STARS
All the children at Petteril Bank School became budding pop stars, when we all worked together with a company called Singing Stars to record a CD of some of our favourite songs. Old favourites such as Down in the Jungle, Thank you for my friends and I am a greedy crocodile were included as well as several Beatles numbers. The parents had the chance to purchase a copy of the CD as a memento of the children’s time at our school.
FUN DAY
The children are helped to organise a Fun Day on 22nd June to help raise money for the school trips later in the term. We had refreshments, face painting, raffles, tombolas, Carlisle United penalty shoot out, a pet show, ice cream van, a bouncy castle, donkey rides, cake stalls, a visit from the Fire Service, we raised nearly £400 in total.
KRAZY KREW
As part of a small school collaborative project we have joined forces with Orton CE Primary School and Tebay Community School and went to visit them on Friday June 7th to see a performance by the Krazy Krew. Children from Tebay School have already visited our school last year and this will also give us an opportunity to have a look at their school. We also had a picnic and a walk along Orton Scar before returning to school.
ZOZO AND SAM
Two African drummers spent the morning with us teaching us rhythms and patterns on the djembe drums. We all had a go and hope to be able to work with them again in the future and build up our drumming skills.

Thanks go to the staff, parents and ice cream van who all helped to provide refreshments.
CITY SPORTS
We entered the city sports event held at Caldew School in Dalston, many of the junior age children took part, however, the second days events had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Special mention goes to Thomas Dowell who came first in the throwing event.

During the last week of term we were visited by Robbie Dee, CFM Radio DJ, to record his weekly event called School Call, the children had no problem convincing Robbie of just how loud they can be, and asked him many exciting questions such as; Why are you bald? And have you met anybody famous? The recording was on air on Friday 22nd July in the morning.
